My Artistic Statement:

I am an artist who works in oil on canvas, primarily using a prismatic palette. I am inspired by the simple moments of everyday life, whether it be a humble peanut butter and jelly sandwich or an afternoon of tending to my flower and vegetable gardens.  Through the treasures of my fresh grown flowers and home-canned goods, I am inspired with a plethora of subject matter for still life paintings.  My work conveys a subtle but deeply felt emotional response and an intense connection to everyday moments.  Using the music of light, color, and contrast, I create a composition using thick and thin paint and the techniques of soft, hard, and lost and found edges.  I love dancing with paint.

I live in Cambridge, Minnesota in a quaint, log home along a river called the Rum. The Rum River is also known by other names and my favorite is the Spirit River. The photo in the header of my website is actually from my backyard. Last summer as I sat on the back deck, I looked up and there stood a deer looking back at me. Of course, I ran for my camera and the deer obliged by waiting for me. After getting the photo, the deer bounced off into the trees along the river. I feel fortunate for living in a space where there is so much nature surrounding me.
